At Hometown BBQ, we are passionate about authentic barbecue, quality meats, and delivering an exceptional guest experience. We're looking for a hardworking and dependable Butcher / Pit Crew Team Member to join our team and help produce the high-quality smoked meats our customers love.

Position Summary

The Butcher / Pit Crew Team Member is responsible for preparing, trimming, seasoning, smoking, and maintaining our barbecue meats while ensuring food safety and quality standards are met. This role requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and a passion for barbecue.

Responsibilities
  • Trim, portion, and prepare briskets, pork shoulders, ribs, chicken, and other proteins.
  • Season and prepare meats according to restaurant recipes and standards.
  • Operate and maintain smokers, pits, grills, and related equipment.
  • Monitor cooking temperatures, smoke levels, and cooking times.
  • Receive, inspect, and properly store meat deliveries.
  • Follow food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized prep and pit area.
  • Assist with inventory management and stock rotation.
  • Support kitchen operations during service as needed.
  • Work early morning, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts as required.
Qualifications
  • Previous butcher, pitmaster, BBQ, kitchen prep, or food service experience REQUIRED.
  • Be able to work morning shifts. (5am-1pm)
  • Ability to safely use knives, meat slicers, and kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Passion for barbecue and smoked meats is highly valued.
