COMPANY: Metalico Transport
JOB TITLE: CDL Class B Driver (Standard: Roll-Off, Lugger)
REPORTS TO: Transportation Manager.
JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Non-Exempt.
LOCATION: 127 Fillmore Ave. Buffalo NY, 14210
HOURS: Monday-Friday 7:00AM - 4:00PM, Saturdays as needed.
COMPENSATION: $23-26/hr., based on experience, skills, and driving record.

PURPOSE:
Safely and efficiently deliver and pick up containers at customer sites. Perform all job duties in accordance with company policies and procedures. MUST have a valid CDL A or B and be able to drive standard/manual for this position. Previous Roll-Off experience preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Safe Driving Practices (Abide by DOT Regulations).
• Drive safely; ensure every trip is completed by DOT regulations, and speed limits, and accident-free.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on every truck driven daily. Ensure equipment defects are reported immediately.
• Accurately complete all paperwork and documents required by Federal DOT and the Company daily.
• Drivers are responsible for their load. Ensure appropriate material distribution and securing of load.
• Driver must be willing to switch from one type of truck to another (For example tractor to roll off, or from roll off to a straight truck, etc.), depending on business needs.
• Provide a positive representation of the company by demonstrating safe, responsible driving practices. 
• Aware of materials allowed hauling and materials not allowed hauling (HAZARDOUS MATERIALS).
• Dialing, holding a mobile phone to the ear and texting while driving is not permitted.
• Participates in mandatory scheduled safety meetings.
• In the event of an accident or injury, if physically able the driver must immediately call and report to the transportation manager for the next steps. Take photos if possible and wait for Metalico personeel or police to respond.
• Operate company vehicles in a safe manner by applying knowledge and skills in maneuvering vehicle at varying speeds in difficult situations such as heavy traffic and inclement weather, or in tight loading dock areas. Keep tractor interior clean and orderly.
• Monitor truck's mechanical functions and ensure truck is maintained in accordance with maintenance schedules.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Class B License Required.
• Class A License a plus.
• At least 6 months of Class A or B driving experience (2+ years of driving experience preferred).
• Clean Driving Record/MVR.
• Must possess or be able to obtain a DOT physical card.
• Must be able to drive standard.

CUSTOMER SERVICE:

• Pick up and deliver containers at customer sites timely and efficiently.
• Provide customers with appropriate paperwork.
• Represents Metalico professionally and courteously.
• Communicates all customer needs/concerns to the transportation manager.
• Driver must be considerate to not overextend their presence at the customer site, if anything goes wrong (property damage, spills, injuries, etc.) the driver must immediately call and report the incident to the transportation manager for resolution.
• Maintains a positive relationship with yard staff, and understands departmental requirements and how each function impacts others within the organization.

• Physically able to participate in training sessions, presentations, and meetings. 
• Move about a salvage yard.
• Must be able to enter and exit the cab using foot and hand holds.
• Outside work in the Yard is where temperature and weather extremes (heat, cold, rain, snow) may be encountered.
• Work may take place in an industrial environment, with noise, dust and fumes.
• Noise level in the work environment can be moderate at times, hearing protection is provided by the company at all times.
• Depending on need, one must be able to exert force for pushing and pulling. Able to stoop, bend, twist, balance, climb, crouch, and kneel.
• Applicants must be registered in the Federal DOT Clearinghouse. A job offer will be contingent on a pre-hire physical, including drug screening, criminal background screening, and an MVR report.
