Clinical Psychologist (1099)
Pay rate : $40.00 per hour (1099)
Job location: Mike O’Callaghan Military Medical Center (MOMMC), Nellis AFB, NV, United States.
Roles and Responsibilities
Practice within the guidelines of their state licensing board, the American Psychological Association
Ethical Principles and Code of Conduct, and MTF privileges.
Conduct psychological evaluations utilizing information from clinical interviews, psychological
testing, and collateral sources, as appropriate.

Accurately diagnoses all major psychiatric disorders in accordance with the most current Diagnostic
and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders of the American Psychiatric Association.
Promptly determines the appropriate treatment setting and provides a variety of effective
treatment modalities in an outpatient setting, which include psychopharmacology and the
traditional interactive psychotherapies

Routinely is effective in facilitating inpatient admissions to psychiatric inpatient facilities
Almost always handles and safeguards classified or sensitive information in an appropriate manner

Typically responds to consultation requests in accordance with the time indicated by the referring
medical provider
Thoroughly conducts assessments and offers appropriate guidance for other providers in the
treatment of patients who present with secondary psychiatric complaints .
Almost always serves effectively as a member of the mental health flight multidisciplinary treatment
team.
Almost always provides timely and accurate psychiatric consultation.to commanders in all acute
circumstances
Routinely evaluates members on TDRL status and renders appropriate recommendations and
dispositions in accordance with pertinent AFIs.
Often prepares thorough and accurate psychiatric assessments for Medical Evaluation Boards in
accordance with the guidance provided by all pertinent Air Force Instructions (AFIs).
Normally renders fitness/suitability for duty determinations, and ensures that all members referred
for security clearances, flying operations, personnel reliability program, and special assignments are
capable of such responsibilities from a mental health perspective
Usually conducts a professional training activity for mental health flight staff, interns, students and
residents in accordance with established guidelines and time frames.
Consistently engages in program development and outcome research to improve clinic services to
beneficiaries.
Degree/Education (5.2.4): Have a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or (Psy.D.) degree in clinical or counseling
psychology from an APA-accredited psychology program or a program acceptable to the Office of the
Surgeon General, U.S. Air Force. Shall have completed an APA-accredited internship/residency in
professional psychology or an internship/residency acceptable to the Office of the Surgeon General, U.S.
Air Force
Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support (5.2.3): T he HCW shall hold and maintain Basic Life
Support -BLS is required. Certification must be through client guidelines. Members must present proof
of current certification(s) through client to be presented on first day of work. Computer-based training
does not constitute fulfilling the training requirements. Must maintain currency at NO cost to the
government. Recertification is NOT provided by the MTF. Credential may not lapse for any period of
time
Experience : Must have a minimum of two years of experience as a clinical psychologist post completion of
an APA-accredited Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program. Additionally, the
candidate is required to meet clinical competency requirements specified in the Service-specific
credentialing instructions.
Board Certification (5.2.6.4.4): None
Licensure/Registration : Shall have and maintain a current, full, active, and unrestricted license to
practice as a psychologist in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of
Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
