Description

Skyworks Solutions is seeking an early-career Data Scientist to join our Data Analytics & AI Enablement team in Irvine, CA. In this role, you’ll apply machine learning, statistics, and data engineering fundamentals to real-world problems across analog/RF design, test, and manufacturing. You’ll collaborate with experienced data scientists and engineers to build models, develop analytics, and create tools that drive measurable impact, such as improving yield and quality, detecting anomalies, and accelerating design workflows.
This role is ideal for candidates with 2-4 years of experience who are eager to learn, ship production-quality work, and grow in a highly technical, supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to predictive analytics for yield, quality, and reliability improvements.
  • Build and evaluate models for anomaly detection, signal classification, and regression/forecasting on time-series and high-dimensional data.
  • Prototype to production: help prepare features, training data, baselines, metrics, and documentation; assist with deployment and monitoring under guidance.
  • Partner with domain experts (RF/design/product/manufacturing) to translate business problems into data/ML solutions.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Education & Experience (one of the following):

Master’s degree (MS/MA/MEng) in Data Science, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Applied Math, or a related field with ≥1 year of relevant experience (industry or research).
Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) in a related field with ≥5 years of relevant professional experience.

  • Proficiency in Python and core data/ML libraries: pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn; experience with Jupyter and Git.
  • Solid understanding of statistics, model evaluation (e.g., cross-validation, calibration, ROC/PR), and feature engineering.
  • Ability to work with structured and semi-structured data, write clean, reproducible code, and explain findings to non-DS stakeholders.
Strong communication, curiosity, and a collaborative mindset.

Desired Experience and Skills

  • Exposure to deep learning frameworks (PyTorch or TensorFlow) for time-series, signals, or tabular tasks.
  • Basic familiarity with SQL, data pipelines, and ML workflow tools (e.g., MLflow, Airflow, DVC).
  • Understanding of semiconductor/RF or electronics concepts (e.g., device/circuit behavior, test data, signal integrity). not required but a plus.
  • Experience handling large datasets (e.g., waveform/sensor data, EDA outputs) and optimizing performance.
  • Full‑stack development experience is preferred, such as building internal data/ML tools or dashboards (e.g., FastAPI/Flask, React/Vue, RESTful APIs), integrating models into services, and using Docker and basic CI/CD.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP) is beneficial.
