Duties

Help

• Evaluate and install medical equipment and/or systems.
• Test and classify medical equipment in current use and determines serviceability and disposition.
• Analyze the compatibility of integrated components and electronic systems.
• Determine schedule of preventive maintenance and formulates methods to ensure operational integrity and safety according to manufacturer's specifications.
• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, overhaul, and surveillance testing of electronic components, medical equipment and systems.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
• A pre-placement medical examination is required.
• Must possess and maintain a valid stateside driver's license.
• May be required to handle and/or insure proper disposal of hazardous material(s). Requires use of protective/safety clothing/equipment.
• May be required to consult with co-workers or clinical staff outside normal hours to resolve PCE problems and/or be subject to callback to perform emergency repairs.
• May be required to obtain a military/commercial driver's license for heavy or special purpose vehicles.
• This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes testing, repairing, and installing medical equipment, developing maintenance standards and procedures, and evaluating equipment performance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-10).

Education
