NewSpring Store Manager/Cashier Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports to Executive Administrative Pastor
Grade II ($15.10- $23.40 Based on experience and qualification)
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises sales and customer service for the NewSpring Store and NewSpring Coffee Company during weekend services and special events. Assists in the collaboration and development of NewSpring Store’s merchandise and ensures successful product management in support of the mission of NewSpring Church. Responsible for directing the team to provide excellent customer service and radical hospitality to NewSpring guests in the store and coffee shop venues.
The incumbent must perform all job duties as outlined in this job description to support ongoing mission of the church while committed in accordance with the Baptist Faith and Message (2000 edition).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
NewSpring Store Administrative and Inventory Management (app. 65%)
- Analyze seasonal and calendar-based merchandise needs. Communicate inventory requirements to the Creative Team to maintain appropriate stock levels in the NewSpring Store.
- Collaborate with the Creative Team regarding NewSpring Store merchandise order initiation and inventory quantities, supporting the mission of NewSpring Church through successful product management.
- Regularly generate and review profit and loss reports to forecast strategic order placement. Assess trends to mitigate loss and maximize cost effectiveness.
- Update inventory in the point-of-sale system as new items arrive. Obtain perishable inventory from local sources, always ensuring freshness. Generate barcodes and price labels to tag and arrange inventory for sale.
- Assist the Creative Team in the content development for the online store.
- Monitor store merchandise for security during the weekend services.
- Collaborate with ministry leaders to utilize point-of-sale system to facilitate payments for special events hosted by NewSpring.
Supervisor (app. 35%)
- Manage the work and personnel functions of staff and volunteers in the NewSpring Store and NewSpring Coffee Company, including directing, coaching and staff performance reviews to maintain adequate staffing and enhance productivity of personnel.
- Schedule and supervise cashier team for weekend services and special events.
- Process cash and card payments, refunds and exchanges. Ensure pricing is accurate.
- Facilitate a welcoming environment through customer service and hospitality in alignment with NewSpring’s mission.
- Lead staff and volunteers in active maintenance of inventory levels, store presentation and organization of inventory. Ensure cleanliness and presentation of the store and coffee shop before, during, and after the services.
- Account for money and contributions from the NewSpring Coffee Company, NewSpring Store, and special events. Responsible for opening and closing of all environment registers. Prepare sale deposits and drawer set up each weekend. Tips generated in the ministry environment go to the environment or to the church's Tithe & Offering and not the employee.
- Assist with counting weekly contributions, preparing cash deposits, and depositing cash to bank.
These duties are subject to change as church needs and strategies evolve. Employee may be required to perform other duties.
EDUCATION/TRAINING
- High school diploma/GED is preferred/required.
- College courses or enrichment classes in business administration or retail management field is preferred.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience volunteering or working in ministry.
- Minimum of 2-3 years in retail sales is preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of customer service experience required.
- Experience may be considered in lieu of education.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Professional demeanor and appearance with ability to deal courteously with the public.
- Competent written, verbal, and math skills.
- Proficient communication, organizational, and coordination skills with attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn new software programs.
- Knowledge of cash management practices.
- Ability to remain composed and troubleshoot complex situations.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to foster a team environment and sense of unity among staff and volunteers; motivating, teaching, and training them through servant leadership.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- This position works primarily indoors. Occasional outdoor work may be required.

- Indicates scheduled hours include an unpaid meal break of 1 hour.
Sunday: 8am - 1:00pm
Monday: Off
Wednesday: Off
- Thursday: 8:30am - 5:30pm
Friday: as needed for special events
Saturday: 2:00pm - 5:00pm
