Location: Brecksville, OH (with planned transition to Wickliffe, OH in 2028)

Job Type: Full-Time / On-Site 
Shift + Hours: First Shift, 6:30am – 4:30pm 

 

How You’ll Make an Impact  

As a R&D Lab Technician, you'll be at the forefront of our innovation, operating high-tech equipment, running experiments, and working side-by-side with scientists and engineers to troubleshoot issues, improve processes, and keeping everything running smoothly. If you’re someone who likes solving problems, staying organized and making a real difference through your work, this role is for you.

You'll collaborate with a diverse group of passionate individuals to deliver sustainable solutions to advance mobility, improve wellbeing, and enhance modern life. In this role, you will: 

  • Deliver accurate and timely laboratory results while demonstrating Lubrizol Cultural Beliefs and ensuring safe working conditions.
  • Conduct experiments according to defined operating procedures, including operation of Henschel mixers, 2-roll mill, pipe extrusion, pipe fitting injection molding, and compression molding machines.
  • Continuously improve work practices and procedures to enhance safety, efficiency, and quality of testing.
  • Recognize validity of test data, evaluate data to ensure accuracy prior to communicating results, and notify manager regarding non-conformances.
  • Document test data in Excel and Lubrizol’s internal software systems.
  • Articulate and communicate lab results to scientists, managers, and business partners with timely status updates.
  • Assemble, prepare, and maintain extrusion, injection molding, and other test equipment.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on equipment as defined in SOPs.

 

Required Qualifications that Enable Your Success  

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • At least one year of experience in an R&D lab, manufacturing, or similar industrial/academic setting.
  • Working knowledge of plastics extrusion and/or injection molding required. 
  • Strong observational and recordkeeping skills.
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills to evaluate results and identify root causes.
  • Working knowledge of core mathematical/statistical concepts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications that Drive you Forward  

  • Degree or professional certification in polymer science/processing or another science-related field.
  • Experience in plastic or rubber manufacturing and/or testing.
  • Forklift driving experience.
  • Lock Out Tag Out experience.
  • Emergency Response experience.
  • Familiarity with Lubrizol’s internal research applications (e.g., ChemTestInfo, Results Uploader, gLIMS, REx, Information Warehouse).
  • Knowledge of Lubrizol products, intermediates, and raw materials.
