Job Description



AECOM’s Urbanism + Planning (U+P) practice is seeking an urban planner or civil engineer to join our team in Orlando, Florida. This position will support land development efforts across central Florida, working on a wide range of planning and development projects for both public- and private-sector clients.

 

As part of a highly collaborative team of planners, urban designers, architects, engineers, environmental specialists, and economists, the Land Development Lead will contribute to policy documents, real estate feasibility assessments, master plans, and complex development initiatives. The role will focus on entitlement strategies, land development coordination, land use and zoning amendments, and navigating regulatory processes to advance real estate projects. In addition, the Land Development Lead will help guide business development by engaging with clients, identifying growth opportunities, and strengthening AECOM’s entitlement capabilities across central Florida.

 

Land Development Lead tasks include:

  • Lead business development efforts in partnership with a multidisciplinary team to understand client priorities and needs, and to identify strategic actions that support U+P practice growth.
  • Develop land planning and entitlement packages, supplemental information, and amendments in accordance with code and environmental requirements to advance master plans in Florida.
  • Coordinate with multiple disciplines and produce land use plans, site plan/area analytics, graphics, and/or maps in support of master planning projects in Florida.
  • Advise on planning and design efforts to help clients advance compliant, well-connected, and sustainable projects in Florida.
  • Prepare presentations and facilitate meetings with stakeholders to build consensus around master plans for mixed-use, entertainment, commercial, and industrial properties.

Qualifications



Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Civil Engineering, or related field, plus 8 years of relevant work experience.
  • Deep knowledge of land use and zoning regulations in Florida.
  • Experience shepherding complex projects through the entitlement process in central Florida through coordination with the public and private sectors and stakeholders.
  • Experience authoring entitlement packages and amendments in central Florda.

 

Preferred Requirements

  • 10 years of relevant work experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with ArcGIS and/or Adobe Creative Suite.
